Sunday January 31st. Scratching a silky surface.

scratch_1

A small piece of silk was scratched with a fresh Stanley blade, the sides frayed a little and the blue threads sewn back on the fabric across the top.  Three small slashes across the top to make the blue threads (I am guessing the warp) stand out.  Now, I can see myself actually using this technique.  Also, it would be possible to pick out long threads and use them for embroidery; cheaper than pure silk thread.

There was something very satisfying about slashing pure silk; carefully, of course!
